A day without tomorrow

Hidden in plain sight all over major Arab cities are dilapidated cinemas that were once hubs of culture, glamour and art in the Middle East. Their decline tells the story of major social, political and religious shifts in the Middle East, and paints a picture of a bygone era, reminding us that the Arab World we know today was a much more open, progressive place.
